Sorting Out Magazines

As these pictures might predict, I'm a magazine junkie. I love flicking through glossy pages of fashion, beauty tips, home decoration, tempting food recipes, health, and financial advice. Moreover, I use these paper covered monthlies as inspiration within most fields.
But because I prefer collecting them as opposed to getting rid of them, my collection tends to pile up.

Still , I had an urge to get some kind of control over the covers, that have seemed to invade a noticeably space of my apartment.
After categorizing my magazines into piles, the "keep-pile", naturally overgrew the "throw-pile", with the "read-through-before-give-way-pile" turning in second.

If you share the equal challenges of throwing magazines, here's my tips to alternative ways of keeping your home from turning into a news stand:

* Tear out the most interesting pages from the magazine and collect them in a scrapbook or a loose-leaf binder categorized after topics (i.e: Fashion, decoration, food, health). This makes it easier to get back to the articles for which you originally was keeping the magazine.

* Hate the idea of your magazines ending up in the bin? Give them away to friends, neighbours, or health institutions for second hand use.

* Make sure to store the ones you want to keep well. Put them in a book shelve (categorized after issues, of course) or put them in dedicated cassettes.

Saturday: Flea Market and Dinner Party

Spring means flea market season and great chances of filling up your home with others outdated furniture, kitchenware, toys ,and clothing. Even though you don't intend to buy anything, it's fun just to go through all kinds of funny looking clothing and stuff from the past that you thought you'd never see again.
:-)

Saturday night, we had friends over for dinner. I really like that kind of weekend cookouts. Not just do you get to spend some quality times with your favorite people, but also, it's a nice opportunity to dress up:)
My dedicated outfit of the night consisted of a black top from Bik Bok (sample), vintage tulle skirt from Paris, pumps from Don Donna, and necklace from Dyrberg/Kern.

Spring Is So In The Air!

I simply love love love the fact that Spring (and soon even Summer) is here! Oslo's inhabitants are again switching into bohemian behavior, hanging out in parks and filling up sidewalk cafés. As always, after a long winter, people are starving for sunshine and daylight.
Here's a couple of pictures from my walk in the St.Hans Haugen park.

My Easter Weekend in Riga

Unlike most of my "Norwegian sisters", I have not spent the Easter Holiday skiing and slacking at some cabin in the mountains with books, crime, and candy filled Easter eggs.
Well, I did spend two days in Lillehammer, which is literally really close to the mountains (even though I didn't go skiing...) and I've nearly finished my book.
However, my Easter weekend was spent in the capital of Latvia, Riga. This was my first visit to the Baltic, that proved to be a cheap and nice city with an awful lot of badly dressed people. I don't mean to be rude, but I just can't figure out that patent stiletto and animal printed trend! Further, Crazy shiny PVC handbags with lots of buckles seemed to by a hottie. Apparently, "less is more" is a strange expression among the Latvians.

Despite all the fashion-faux-pas and the ice cold eastern wind, Riga invited to great affordable SPA experiences and cosy restaurants.
