The sales are on!

These days most stores kick off their semi-annual sales. At Eger at Karl Johan in Oslo, brands like Marc by Marc Jacobs, Chloé, Marlene Birger and Alexander Wang are now marked down by 30-40 percent (mostly 30 % of course..)
The selection is good, but unless there is something you really crave for, I would recommend to keep calm until the further reductions. That's usually what I do!

My Alexander Wang

Ever since I first laid my eyes on Alexander Wang's handbags, I've secretly craved for one myself. The design is fun,fresh and casual, which makes it the perfect bag for the summer.
This pinkish colour looks slightly worn and the leather is soft as butter. With this hobo hanging on my shoulders I'm good to go (with my hands free!).
And lucky for me it was marked down by 50% at Barneys CO-OP New York :)

Home again!

After three weeks of travelling around in the U.S I'm back in Oslo. I have shopped my way through the streets of New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, the malls of Las Vegas and Orange County and the far out outlet centers. Of course I will share my best tips and bargains with you guys!

Ready to go!

After some serious packing, I'm finally ready to go on holiday! I'm SO excited!

Three weeks in the U.S  visiting....

New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles....and around.

If anyone has any travelling tips (where to shop, eat, drink and see) what so ever, feel free to leave me a comment. I'll try to give you some updates on the way, so hang on!

Tonight's Outfit

Tonight I went to a work event wearing this: Skirt from Zara, Sleeve from Primark and a selection of necklaces from my jewellery box (the longest one is Just Cavalli, the others are old).

Travelling light

I'm a serious packer, and always plan my holiday wardrobe well ahead. Still, there's always the same dilemma: Packing light to have space enough for serious shopping sprees, or stuff it up with all your beautiful summer dresses and high heels that you never get to wear at home?

As much as I can, I opt for the happy medium. I do want to look good in those holiday pictures, and I do want to shop! Therefore, I try to save on weight by repacking my toiletries onto smaller containers, and by making sure that summer skirt can be mixed with several tops.

What's your packing strategy?

A little bit of shopping...

Since I'm going on holiday in less than one week I've placed a ban on shopping. Nevertheless, I couldn't resist myself from buying this loverly silk dress. After all, it was marked down by almost 85 % (from NOK 2900 to NOK 500!), so it would be stupid to let it pass, right?

The dress is from Atmosfære in Skovveien, and in relation to the market day at Frogner, they had a selection of their beautiful dresses on sale.

United Bakeries in Brageveien where I had lunch has the most decorative ceiling (and really good buns, too:).

This weekend in Oslo (June 6-7.) , two of Norway's well known artists, Tommy Tee and Mira Craig are hosting a hip hop flea market. CD's, clothes, shoes, jewellery, and make-up from their private closets will be offered for sale.

Fun (and safe) in the sun

As much as I love the sun, I'm not a big fan of sunburn. Therefore, I make sure to put on very high protection before hitting the sun. OK, it may take a bit longer to reach that ultimate summer tan, but when its there, the color tends to be longer lasting - and my skin feels better.

Here are some of my beach bag essentials: From left: Anti-aging sunscreen stick from Methode Jeanne Peaubert SPF 30 (for lips, eye lids and nose), anti-wrinkle sun cream from Biotherm SPF 30 for face, and sun protection body cream SPF 30 from Lancome.  The latter contains a dash of glimmer and really makes you feel like a beach diva. I like!

Splash out - summer has come to Norway!
I prefer white or sheer colors in the sun as they keeps you relatively cool, A scarf can be used to protect your hair and scalp, or as protection to over exposed areas, like shoulders or legs.

My New Dress

Here is the dress I bought at the sample sale I blogged about. I really like the pink colour and the embellishment on the front. The ear loops that I wear are also from the same sale - from Dyrberg/Kern. I'm going to a few weddings this summer, so I'm thinking about wearing this dress to one of them. No matter what, it's nice to have a dress ready for whatever occation that might come around.

Rock & Republic Sample Sale

Are you a fan of the American jeans brand, Rock & Republic?

Then you should drop by their sample sale in Hegdehaugsveien (next to H&M Cosmetics).

The sale offers jeans for 700-1000 kr, as well as hats and sunglasses.

Today's Outfit: The White Shirt

Styling a vintage dress

Today I found this really cute vintage chiffon dress at Fretex. Most certainly, it is really a slip, but I love the colour so much that I think it deserves a life beyond the bedroom.

Here's how I intend to pull it off.

Old-fashioned Romance

To hide its see-through look I put a white tank and a high-waisted tulle underskirt underneath the dress. To define my waist, I added a linen belt set with shells (that originally belonged to a top). Then, to finish the look, I thought a pastel purse like this from Mulberry would go nicely with the sheer colours to complete the nostalgic romantic look.

Rock & Romance

With a cropped biker jacket and studded heels, the dress instantly got a more edgy look.

Take me out now!

Casual Cool

Jeans go with everything and completes the casual look. Wearing this faded short-sleeved jacked, paired with sunglasses and ballerinas, I'd be ready to hit the stores or meet the girls for lunch.

Just bring on the sunny weather, please!
