Great Savings on Giftsets

Strawberrynet offers some great Valentine's Specials with savings up to 60 percent. As my darling hardly shops beauty products - and at least not online, these would probably be best for personal gift shopping ;)
Anyway, if you want to make some bargains, check out the site here. Personally, I consider this set from Elizabeth Arden. Eight Hour cream and stick, facial cream, and a cleanser (great for the gym) for just $36 is without doubt a nice offer.

Lise Karlsnes + Vero Moda

Vocalist in the Norwegian pop band, Lise Karlsnes, will front Vero Moda's summer campaign. Helena Christensen and the Dutch model Yfke Sturm will also join the campaign, that will be launched in May.
Lise has a really cool and edgy look, and I'm sure she'll look great in the ads.
Can't wait to see the pictures!

So Sweet!

This girl street hunted in Helsinki by Hel Looks looks just adorable and proves that winter looks don't have to be just black and grey. The pink ribbons really did it :)

Designer Bags at ASOS

I just figured out that ASOS, the Internet site known for its knock-offs of designer stuff, has begun to sell authentic designer bags from Chloé and Fendi. Even though the site has long offered upscale brands like True Religion and Rock and Republic, I'm quite amazed that they've actually got the authorization to sell luxury brands as Chloé and Fendi. Aren't these supposed to sold more exclusively?

What say you? Do you think it's cheapens the brands or are you happy for the increased availability?

Behind The Pages of Vogue

I snapped up from Fashionologie's blog that the French TV show, "La blonde et moi" recently did a "A day in Carine Roitfeld's shoes" special . If you've ever wondered how it is to be the editor of French Vogue, check out the video here. Even if you don't understand French, you can still check out the stylish offices and feel the haute magazine ambiance.

I must say I'm quite jealous at her desk...

Today's Outfit: The White Summer Dress

Who said that summer dresses have to be stuffed away for the winter?
Today I mixed my white cotton dress with a turtle neck (both from H&M) and a wool vest from C&A. The silk band belongs to another cardigan, the scarf is from Cubus, the bag is my Chloé medium paddington, and the necklace is designed by Dyrberg/Kern. The leather jacket from Voice of Europe has been stored away for years, but when my parents tidied up their attic, I rediscovered it again:-)

Tip to make your morning shine

Are you one of those who struggle to get up in the winter mornings? are you a frequent user of the snooze button on you alarm clock?
So am I.

Also, my bed room is freezing cold in the mornings. As a result, I usually don't have more time than to grab what's within the easiest reach in my closet. This again means that my outfits have been less experimental that I preferably like.

Luckily, I've now come up with an easy solution to improvement:
Arrange your outfit the night before, and make your mornings nice and easy!

This tip may be elementary reading, but to me, this small change of habit has improved my mornings significantly.
Wake wake - rise and shine :-)

Posh's New Hobby

Victoria Beckham will probably not give up shopping, but her newest upcoming project is said to be bag and shoe design. Posh will design exclusive hand bags and shoes that presumably will be sold only in selected stores in the U.S.

Even though she without doubt has an eye for details and knows good design, I must say carrying a bit of Posh on my arm, feels a little unappealing.

Shoe Organising

I've always been horrible at storing my shoes. Up to now my shoes have been stored deep inside my closet behind all my hanging clothes. This resulted in a quite permanent shoe storing. I simply tended to forget what I owned and kept using the same ones that was stored in the front... Not very clever, of course.
Tonight, however, I decided that enough was enough. I gently labeled all my shoes, organised them in boxes, and stored them in the niche between my closet and the wall.

Voilà! An organised and more visible shoe collection:-)

Weekend Escape

Whereas most of my scandi sisters were spending the weekend shuffling snow and struggling through the minus degrees, I enjoyed the mild and sunny Paris January:-)

The sales were on, and most department stores were packed. Thus, I ended up strolling through the less dense Marais and Rue St Honoré. Much more comfortable and inspirational. Furthermore, I couldn't believe my luck when I ran inro the stunning black Chloé Paddington tote marked down by 50 % and another 10% with the tax deducted! The bag has black hardware that makes it go with everything - just what I was looking for:)

White Bag Dreams

Spring and summer collections are packed with with white bags. Here are some of my favourites.
From left to right: D&G Dolce & Gabbana large calfskin satchel, Marc Jacobs metallic quilted Mariah, Chanel, Chloé Bay, Alexander McQueen Novac, and Fendi B-bag.

Today's Outlet Shopping

After work I went to the Maggie Wonka sale and found a few nice items. I can never get enough cardigan, and this short sleeved style was just perfect - romantic and girly. The wrap blouse looks actually better in real life, but it has a really beautiful shine.

The Mulberry sale may be one of the most legendary ones. Long queues, lots of crazy bag ladies and confused boyfriends still make this one of my favourite shopping happenings in Oslo.

However, if you're on the store's mailing list and bring your invitation, there is a pre sale on Friday at 7 p.m - 21 p.m.

I've got the invitation, but since I'm going to Paris for the weekend, I want be able to come. Thus, if any of you want it, contact me by mail.

The Mountain Goat

The Fashion Economist will be off to the mountains this weekend. Thus, hand bags, make up, and city strolling will be replaced by back packs, 8 hour cream, and skiing - and wining, dining by the fire, and good laughing with a bunch of friends:)
I'll be back for more blogging next week.

Have a nice weekend, everyone!

Shoe Shopping!

Very little beats ASOS' seasonal sales. Thus, with further reductions, I couldn't resist some shoe shopping:)

I love ballerina flats, and these silvery ones at just 98 kr will be a winner. Since a woman never can have too many pairs of shoes (and I don't really buy that many, either... Normally...), these in gold and these in copper were also added to my order.

At 480 kr for all, including shipment (to France), I'm pretty sure this was a real shoe scoop:)

Tip! Type in the discount code, "clotheshow", and you'll get an extra 10 percent off.

Five Facts about The Fashion Economist

I've been challenged by Fashionfiles to reveal five things about myself that you probably didn't know. Well, here comes five stunning facts about the Fashion Economist:

1) As a little girl I was a huge fan of Samantha Fox. Little did I know of her true career. I just loved her for her music, and played "Touch me" over and over again on my cassette player.

2) I've been an exchange student in Bangkok and lived five months in an apartment complex with a pool and cleaning ladies 6 days a week:)

3) I've featured in a commercial for Tiger Beer

4) I share my first name with the editor of French Vogue

5) I pretty much walk everywhere as I hate spending money on bus tickets.

Shocking, isn't it?
OK, I'll pass on the torch... I hereby challenge Fashion-Faux-Pas and Freshness to reveal something about themselves.

Ugly Betty Wears Prada?

The American hit TV series, "Ugly Betty" has now reached Norwegian television, and the first episode was showed tonight.

After watching the show, my first thought was: Haven't I seen this before? The plot, a misplaced nerdy girl hired as an assistant of a top fashion magazine editor, does not differ much from that of book/movie, "The Devil Wears Prada". Although the TV series certainly was exaggerated in most terms, there were more than a few obvious similarities. Even the music was the same!

Still, I must admit I found Ugly Betty quite charming and enjoyable. I will definitely not miss the next episode. Will you?

My Edith is Here

As a novice Net-a-porter-shopper, I must admit I had some doubts before placing my first order for this Chloé Edith handbag. Would there be extra taxes? How was the delivery time? When you put that much into a bag (and it was on sale!), I guess this kind of scepticism is far from abnormal.

However, all concern was set aside, for the web shop handled its business well. From placing my order to delivery it took 4 working days. As the parcel was shipped from the States, that's more than satisfactory to me.

Also, the price given at checkout is the real price and includes both taxes, duties and shipping. In other words, no bad surprises;)

Finally, as a Norwegian customer, I found out that the prices converted in dollars give far more value for money when converted to NOK than as for euros or pounds. Thus, if shopping at Net-a-porter, I advice you to choose the American version of the site.
