These look way better IRL than in this picture. I really like the sculptured heel and the moss color, that in fact is easy to match with any given shade of color.

Coconut and Chocolate Chip Muffins

Here's a little treat that I threw together last night. These muffins work wonders when you "gotta have something", and at the same time want to feed your body with something nutritious. They're quite filling, which make them a perfect snack between lunch and dinner. Did I mention they were gluten-free and sugar-free? And that I found the recipe at blog favorite ComfyBelly only moderated slightly?

Ingredients (makes about 8 muffins)

1,5 dl coconut flour
1/4 teaspoon of sea salt
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
6 eggs
0,5 dl agave nectar (or your preferred sweetener of any kind)
1,5 tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil
1 tablespoon of lucuma powder (Superfood with a sweet taste. Can be skipped)
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
About 50 gram dark chocolate (I used Lindt 90% cocoa) finely chopped

Method

Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.

Blend all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.

Using a whisk, or mixer on a low setting, blend in all the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix until well-blended.

Fill each muffin liner about 2/3 of the way full with batter.

Bake for about 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean and the top is starting to brown a bit. Eat right away!

Store any leftovers covered or in the refrigerator

I already told you about my shopping at Louis Vuitton in London. Although I'm a sucker for handbags, the box contained something else. A scarf! I've been dreaming about this, to me, stunning cashmere Stephen Sprouse leopard scarf for a long time. Can't believe I'm finally owning it, but sometimes you just gotta take the plunge, right?! It's a classic piece that really adds a touch of luxury to any outfit. And more importantly, it keeps me warm - and happy:-D

Apparently I'm not the only fan!

While browsing more images of the scarf I came across this cute scarf tutorial. In just 4.5 minutes it cleverly demonstrates 25 ways of wearing a scarf! My favorite? "The Celebrity" at 1:54. This video has more than nine million views, so perhaps you've already watched it? In any case, it's worth repeating.

This weekend I've been visiting my sister in Stavanger. Had a fabulous time - as always! Here are some pics.

My sister really knows how to make her guest feel welcome. This chicken curry soup tasted as good as it looks like.

I also got a little souvenir... Sheepskin lined platform booties from Gardenia. So warm, so comfortable, so stylish! These will be my companion during the Norwegian winter months.

I think metallics balance well with rough finished jeans, like these from Levi's. Love their Curve ID line! If you haven't taken their ID test, yet, do it here. It's fun and easy! I turned out as Demi Curve, which was also the line that fit me the best when I tried on some different styles in store.

Do you guess what this is?

New sweater!

I stopped by H&M today and couldn't believe my luck when I found this lovely oversized sweater with real leather sleeves (or maybe I should call it a poncho?). It is made of 90 percent wool and 10 percent alpaca, a mix of fabric you don't usually expect from H&M. Unfortunately this medium size item was the only left of the style. I normally take XS/S, but considering the loose fit I hope to get away with baggy. Or what do you guys think?
My second purchase is a dress in reptile:) I'll show you more of this later on. For sure, it will be a fun item to dress up and down.

My Wall Decoration Project

After staring on my empty wall for months, I am finally on a decorating roll! I have always been fascinated by walls dressed up by framed artwork in various sizes. Like these, for instance:

Finally, I got started on my own art project. This is how I carried it through:

Step one: Collect all of your frames that you intend to use and scatter them out on the floor. This makes it easier to get the expression of how it will look like on the wall. Focus on a shape (like a square or a circle) and place the frames as desired.

Step two: Clip out sketches equal to the size of each frame and keep some tape ready. The idea of this is to hang the sketches on the wall before actually hammering them up. Trust me, this will save you for any possible misplacing or extra holes in your wall.

Step three: Tape the sketches where you intend to place the actual frames. Feel free to move the sketches around until you're satisfied. Then it's time to use your hammer and measure! Start with the center frame and work your way out, one frame at a time.

Voilà! My wall decoration is almost finished! I plan on expanding it with more frames, but this is a good start. After all, the first frame is always the most difficult to place! Now, I will focus on selecting the images that will qualify for my personal "wall of fame". (yes, I did actually start with the empty frames). I'm planning on mixing black/white images with quotes and beautiful images from the Internet or clips from magazines and the like. This is the fun part of it!

I will keep you updated on this ongoing project as the frames are getting filled.

Flourless Apple Cake

I have just made the most heavenly low carb apple cake. Completely without flour and sugar, and still just sweet enough. My serving guests don't normally eat low carb og lchf, and they both loved it!
Here is the recipe:

3 egg
3 dl cottage cheese
1-2 tbs cream
100 gram ground almonds
50 gram ground walnuts
0,5 dl erythritol
1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 big apple

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Grease a 23 cm round cake tin.

Combine all of your dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Combine eggs, vanilla, cheese and cream in another large mixing bowl and use a hand blender to make a fine mass. Add the dry ingredients and stir everything well together.
Pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin, add peeled and chopped chunks of apple, sprinkle with cinnamon, and put in the hot oven for 30-35 minutes. It is meant to be slightly rough around the edges, so don't cry if it cracks when you remove it from the tin.

Serve with anything from creme fraiche to whipped cream with vanilla quark.

When I was younger I remember seeing two drops of rain rolling down the window and pretending it was a race.

Today I use rainy days as an excuse for cuddling up at home, lighting candles and do nothing - or like today: Go crazy in the kitchen while listening to music! In any case, don't let the rain stop you from smiling:)

Even though I have always been a fan of the style of Whitney Port, I wasn't head over heels for her Bik Bok collection. Sad to say, I had expected more. More glam, more Whitney, less Bik Bok (don't get me wrong. I do like Bik Bok, but when one hire a guest designer it is usually to jazz up the basic collection, right?). Oh well. Anyway, one piece that I really adored, and that I ended up buying, is this soft cosy mohair sweater.

This will be my winter chillout favorite!

My boss' birthday required celebration. Carrot cake it is!

I simply cannot stop bragging about this genius product. Say goodbye to stinky cotton pads and inefficient nail polish removers that can be hard on your nails, too! Just dip your fingers into the foam for one minute and let the magic happen.

Sephora's express nail polish remover makes good on its promise in....

C'est magique! And best of all: It's without acetone or parabens and is gentle on the nails. It doesn't smell too bad, either. Love it!
I bought my bottle in Paris, but I'm pretty sure you can get hold of this little jar of magic in most Sephora outlets (although I couldn't find it online)

After more than ten visits over the past years, I have picked up a good amount of favorite spots in this fantastic city of Paris. Here, I share a few of them with you. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a comment.

Where to begin?

TASTE: Ladurée
This legendary tea room and pastry shop brand sells fifteen thousands macarons every day, for one reason only - they are simply the best (well, those from Pierre Hermès are not that bad either...)
There are four shops throughout Paris (plus one in Versailles and one at Roissey), of which the one in 16 Rue Royale (Metro: Place de Madelaine) is the oldest. Here, decadent Parisiens have indulged fine bakery since 1862. Must visit!
Their website is really sweet, too!

SEE: La Tour Eiffel

A classic monument of beauty. The tower is best viewed from the end of Rue de l'Université - away from all the Asian hordes of tourists. This is where this photo is taken. Very romantic, too!

SHOP: Vintage at Free'P'Star - 20 Rue de Rivoli (Metro: St. Paul)

This is the best of the three Free'P'Star secondhand stores. If you enjoy treasure hunting, this one is a gem! Here is where I found my ostrich leather handbag and a very unique leather sweater (pictured below), priced twenty and ten euros respectively.

Palace Vintage - 40 Rue de Rivoli

This relatively new boutique is jammed with vintage designer clothing, modern secondhand stuff, shoes, bags etc etc. The woman behind it all is really sweet, especially if you compliment her store:) I found some really nice items here: An oversized sweater from Sonia Rykiel (80 euros) and a flowery silk tunic (20 euros). Both in mint condition.

Come on Eileen - 16/18 Rue des Taillandiers

A ten minutes walk towards la Bastille you will find another vintage haven. This is also fully equipped with treasures from chic French ladies' wardrobes. Well worth a visit!

EAT CHIC: Pershing Hall - 49 Rue Pierre Charron

If you want to dine in style in the terrace of the chic hotel, Pershing Hall, this is the place to be (and to be seen). Make sure you order “L’assiette Pershing“, the perfect dish including panko prawns, nem, black cod, foie gras, scallop carpaccio and so much more. Yum!

NIGHT OUT: L'ARC - 12 Rue de Presbourg

Well after midnight, it is time to dance your butt off at one of Paris' many clubs. I always have a good time at L'ARC, which is located just ahead of L'Arc de Triomphe. A trendy, yet friendly crowd, contemporary decor, and eclectic music that will undoubtedly put you in a dancing mood. Could you ask for more?

SUNDAY BRUNCH IN MARAIS - Le Loire dans la Theiere, 3 rue de Rosiers

Don't be put of by the line of people outside this popular Marais café. Once you're in, it is worth the wait. The relaxed atmosphere, its inviting armchairs and mouth watering tarts will soon want you to export the whole place to you hometown.

Afterwards, spend a few hours wandering in the cosy neighborhood and enjoy the Sunday open boutiques - like a true Parisian!

Low Carb Coconut Waffles

I love waffles. Especially the smell of freshly baked hearts makes my mouth watering... These are made with coconut flour which is naturally sweet and don't require any sweeteners. Perfect for those cosy nights in! Coconut flour can be purchased at most world food markets (I usually get it from Carl Berner in Oslo) and is not as expensive as almond flour.

Ingredients:

About 1-2 dl coconut flour (until the mix reaches the right texture)

4 eggs

50 gram butter

2 tsp psyllium seed husks

1 pinch of salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 dl cream

1/2 dl milk

Melt the butter and whisk the eggs. Add the the butter and the rest of the ingredients to the egg mixture and blend well in a mixer or by hand. The batter should be fairly thick and spongy. Let set for 15 minutes before baking in a waffle iron.

You can serve the waffles with your favorite spread. I prefer sour cream and home made raspberry jam or whipped cream and cinnamon.

Histoires de Parfums

Look what Mr. Postman brought me today! Can't wait to tear open the envelope...

Voilà! On my recent trip to Paris I smelled this heavenly scent: 1804 by Histoires de Parfums. This was, however, after I had gone "somewhat bananas" at Balenciaga, so 130 euros for a bottle of the oh so sweet perfume was totally out of the question.

Well home I searched it up, though. And to my luck, samples were available at the official website of Histoires de Parfums - at just 10 euros for a set of six, shipping included! These are perfect to bring along in my purse, making sure I will always smell as glorious as Paris:)
The fragrance 1804, my favorite, is described as follows: For the George Sand's heiresses, a perfume reflecting her generosity and sensuality. An amber flower bouquet, warmed with heady spices and colored by sweet fruits.
Originality: Hawaiian, spicy pineapple.
Moods: sensual, cocoon, fruity perfume, well-defined, sensual.

Summer holiday is just around the corner (at least for me!) In just a week I am heading for another adventurous trip to the United States. Ahhh! I am SO excited! Las Vegas and SoCal - here I come! Usually I end up with too much, but this time I will try really hard to pack light (as it gets, regarding the heavy studs on my Wang bag...)

KichenAid In the House!

Everyone could need some aid in the kitchen...

Finally my new KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer is here! I had a tough time deciding what color to go for. I suggested fuchsia, but the family's male voice quickly shut that down.... So we agreed on grey, that actually blends well in with the general home decor. I bought the mixer + some extra equipment from Pixmania, because of the price, but fortunately everything also arrived promptly in just a few days.
Of course, I had to test it out right away by baking these strawberry and chocolate scones. However, mine turned out more like crumble... The taste, however, was delicious. Recommended low carb treat!

Yummy breakfast muffins (lchf)

Filling everyday muffins

Here is the recipe for my favorite breakfast muffins that I found at one of my favorite food blogs, "lchf-bloggen". These are perfect to carry in your bag and eat "au natural" as a snack or with cheese for breakfast/lunch.

Ingredients for 6-8 muffins:
1 cup cottage cheese
2-3 tbs. psyllium husk powder
1 cup grounded almonds (or almond flour)
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 cup chopped sundried tomatoes
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil (or 2 tbs. pesto and some dried basil if you haven't got fresh herbs)
1/4 cup water
4 whipped eggs
1/2 ts. salt
3/4 cup freshly grounded parmesan cheese

Preheat your oven to 200'C.
Mix everything except for the parmesan in a bowl. Pour into muffins forms (silicon or non stick - that is important!) and sprinkle with cheese. If you haven't got parmesan, you can use any kind of cheese, actually. I like cheddar.

Bake for approx. 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool and enjoy!

After switching to the lchf diet (low carb high fat), iHerb has been my new convenience web shop. Their selection is impeccable, and with prices well below Norwegian equivalents, who can resist?
What I got this time is raw cacao powder (propped with antioxidants, great to mix in your natural yoghurt and for desserts and baking), almond flour, liquid stevia (all natural sweeteners), and Spirulina (a single-celled freshwater algae and an incredible source of nutrients, makes your energy level boost!)
Who says you need sugar when craving sweets?

My low carb müsli

This müsli will keep you going for hours and hours! I eat it almost every morning with turkish yoghurt and rasberries. Yummy and healthy for carb-avoiders.

Receipe

1 dl pumpkin seeds

1 dl sunflower kernels

1 dl flaxseeds

1 dl sesame seeds

1 dl chopped almonds (or a selection of your favorite nuts)

1 dl angle flake coconut (I make my own, which gives a much richer taste. See how to do it here)

1/2 dl extra virgin coconut oil (like cocosa)

1tbs cinnamon

Mix everything together in a bowl and let it set for 10 minutes while you preheat the oven.

Roast for at least 15 minutes, 200 Celsius, then let cool before storing it in an airtight container. Or eat some of it right away!

Sustainable fashion. Yay or nay?

Today H&M launched its eco-friendly collection. Light textures, lace and dazzling silhouettes made Summer-craving Oslo girls go head over heals. At least a major part of the collection quickly sold out already on the premiere day.

I was not an exception. A one-shoulder dress in recycled polyester blend, a really comfortable powder colored dress, a lace top and a pair of cotton shorts all made its way home with me. Hm... and I was supposed to save money? I am afraid something has to be returned - to please my own consciousness. But which of them? Did you get anything?

Finally, Spring has found its way to Oslo, melting the snow and leaving it possible to again walk normally in heels. I dropped by H&M today and snapped a few pics of some of their delightful Spring collection. Love the color palette of rusty brown, white and a dash of blue! I will for sure look for the optimal version of the maxi dress this season. Perfect for chilly Norwegian days of summer, as they are easy to layer.

I will be the first to admit that lately my focus has been not so much on fashion, but on home decor. Still, in the cloud of construction dust and chaos, I have been true to the saying: Happiness in not a destination, but a way of life. You ought to have some fun on the run!

Finally, I got to move the last two suitcases of clothes into my new wardrobe. Moving into a new apartment involves heavy work! At least it forces you to tidy up, cleaning out - and revealing hidden gems. Tried and tested out clothes I had forgot about. With a pair of scissors, this skirt fit much better! I prefer it short:) The rest of the outfit is more or less random findings that I threw on.
